Göschenen is situated on 1,111 m above sea level and is known for its position on the northern portals of both the railway and motorway tunnels. The Göscheneralp is a fantastic destination for hikers and climbers.
The Göscheneralptal with the splendid reservoir presents a scenic hiking and climbing paradise among the mountains of Uri. Everybody is likely to find a trail that suits their taste - either for a day tour or longer hikes.
Well marked hiking trails lead you to the mostly different regions. Enjoy the view of the mervellous alpine flora and the overwhelming feeling that the amazing panorama conjures up.
The alpine huts which are located on a height of more than 2,000 m above sea level are popular starting points for challenging climbing and hiking tours. In the Göscheneralp there are five huts that belong to the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC). These cosy huts are open during the summer months and provide the hikers with accommodation and food and drink.
