Hospental

Worth a visit, this cosy mountain village with its large number of historic buildings lies at the foot of the Gotthard pass and stands under the protection of cultural heritage.

The picturesque and historically important village Hospental (1,484 m above sea level) is located right in the middle of�the alpine Urserental.�Due to the ring road, Hospental remained a quiet and restful mountain village which invites�the guest to stay in one of the reasonably priced and cosy�hotels or guesthouses. Being located very central, Hospental is�a perfect�starting point for hikes and�trips over the alpine passes by car, motorbike or bicycle.

Winterhorn
Skiiers, snowboarders, telemark skiiers and carving skiiers appreciate the�marvellous downhill runs�on Hospental's favourite mountain Winterhorn, which�is considered an area with snow guaranteed and where the winter season lasts until Easter. The chair lift and the ski lift take you up to the family-friendly skiing�region on more than 2,400 m above sea level. The gradient of the slopes and the spacious ski runs make the Winterhorn a paradise for all winter sports. The Winterhorn offers also many opportunities for off-piste skiing and snowshoeing.

The cross-country skiing trail�"Urserental" leads along the�Reuss river across a wonderful countryside from�Andermatt via�Hospental to�Realp and the same way back. The circuit covers a total difference in altitude of�94 m and provides you with 20 km of classic�and 20 km of skating trails.
Andermatt, Hospental as well as Realp all dispose of�stops�for the�Matterhorn Gotthard railway
